It is certain that Super Eagles striker and current African Footballer of the Year award winner, Victor James Osimhen will leave Italian club, Napoli this summer, but what is not crystal clear is the club he will be heading to.
Italian newspaper, Gazzetta, in their report made it explicitly and abundantly clear that Osimhen would leave but were also quick to point PSG or Chelsea as destination. What this portends or connotes is that they are not 100% sure, it could be any one of them.
As Super Eagles first choice striker, the concern of this writer is the club that will best offer Osimhen the opportunity for further development and improvement. A team that will best suit his playing style and play to his strengths as a forward, in other to continue banging the goals and doing well career wise.
Often times players and their agents are too in a hurry to close the juicy deal that they sometimes fail to look at some of these other key factors. Otherwise, why do you think some players flop in certain clubs but becomes instant hit in another?.
In making a very big career move, these all important questions must call to mind before taking a final decision to avoid career somersault or nose dive.
What is the playing style of the team? Does their style suit your own style? Can you fit in? Would you get regular playing time? Do you have the physical, technical ability to excel in that league? Answers to these key questions will help you in taking your decision.
A wrong career move can bring a once thriving career down on it’s kneels . Sadio Mane was doing very well at Liverpool until he made that wrong move to Bayern
Munich that nailed his career .
What about Alex Song who was captain of Arsenal before he moved to Barcelona and that was it with his career.
Jadon Sancho moved from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United which almost crippled his career until he retraced his steps back to Dortmund for a lifeline.
Alexi Sanchez suffered a similar fate when he made that infamous move from Arsenal to Manchester United to mention a few.
Osimhen must therefore look properly before he leaps to avoid suffering the same fate many other players have gone through due to one wrong move.
The English league and Chelsea if you ask me should have been best for him, given the way the team plays and creates chances, an Osimhen in that team will score goals aplenty
