Why I joined RB Leipzig over Man Utd – Sesko

Benjamin Sesko

Slovenia international, Benjamin Sesko, has explained his decision to join RB Leipzig despite interest from Manchester United in the summer.

Sesko also said he made the ‘better’ decision to join the Bundesliga side over Man United.

The forward was on Man United’s shortlist as manager Erik ten Hag made the signing of a new striker one of his priorities in the summer transfer window.

However, the Premier League giants did not follow up on their interest for the 20-year-old and instead opted to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta in a £72 million deal.

Sesko, meanwhile, completed his £20.6million move to RB Leipzig in the summer after the deal with Red Bull Salzburg was initially agreed in 2022.

When asked about Man United’s interest, Sesko told Transfermarkt: “The thing is, I was not really involved in these kinds of conversations.

“But I think it was better to come here.

“It was very important for me to go to a place that plays a similar style of football.

“I already knew what I had to do and didn’t have to go through a whole learning process again.”
