Wilfred Ndidi Is Phenomenal, Incredible – Rodgers

Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has received a huge shower of praise from The Foxes’ coach, Brendan Rodgers, who declared emphatically that the Super Eagles star continues to amaze him with his incredible and phenomenal performances for the team.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s English Premier League clash with last-placed Watford, Rodgers said the 22-year-old former Racing Genk of Belgium star keeps showing why he is highly rated as the best defensive midfielder this season in the EPL, and labeled the youngster a soldier.

The former Southampton and Liverpool gaffer added that Ndidi has improved massively over the last two years, after arriving from Genk in 2017 and changing position from playing in central defence to a holding midfielder’s role to great aplomb.

With Ndidi’s efforts and form helping Leicester gun for another conquest of the EPL, following their shock victory in 2015, Rodgers said he is pleased to see his team chasing Liverpool all the way for the title and currently flaunt a six-game winning streak.

Ndidi will hope to justify his gaffer’s ratings with another top notch performance against The Hornets on Wednesday at King Power Stadium, ahead of which Rodgers said he cannot overlook the lad’s importance to his game plan for each match.

Rodgers submitted: “He’s an incredible player. We have lots of artists and he’s the soldier. He provides the platform for the attacking players. Every top team needs a player like that. He’s been phenomenal in the time I’ve been here.”

On his part, Ndidi is staying modest ahead of the visit of Watford to King Power Stadium on Wednesday, even as The Foxes seek their seventh consecutive win in the English Premier League, while The Hornets are 20th on the table, winning only one of their last five matches.

Ndidi added: ”I would say that it doesn’t come that easy. We have to work for it. We’ve been working for it, we have to work for it, stay focused, and be determined.

“We just work towards it and then let’s see how the game goes, but the manager, he sees the game and then he makes the formation. Before the game, we’re always ready.”
