Winner of 2023 Lagos Women Run to take home N1.5 million

The eventual winner of the 2023 Lagos Women Run, will take home a cash prize of N1.5million as the champion of the biggest  Women Run Race in Africa.

This is a big increase in the champions take home prize money when compared with what was given in past editions of the Lagos Women Run.

The General Coordinator of the biggest Wonen Run in Africa, Tayo Popoola, noted in Lagos at the weekend that, this year’s edition of Women Run will hold on Saturday, November, 11, 2023 .

She revealed that, aside from the eventual champion grabbing a record breaking prize money,  the first 20 runners to get to the finish line will get  different prize monies.

Popoola, stated that all arrangements have been concluded to host a worldclass Lagos Women Run on November 11, 2023.

This year’s edition of the Lagos Women Run is tagged ‘November to Remember.”

Popoola commended the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for approving the increased winners’ prize money from one million naira to N1.5 million.

She said: “I’m most delighted that plans are in top gear for a successful Women Run that is renowned in showcasing the legacies   of the city of Lagos to the whole world.

She added:”The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, did us proud in his usual charactetistic, when he approved the total prize monies to be given to the first 20 finishers at the 2023 Lagos Women Run. In the past, the limit of prize monies had been for the first top ten winners, but this time around, the top 20 finishers are in the prize money range.

She noted that, the organising committee of the Lagos Women Run are most delighted to have about 8,000 women runners registered for November 11 race which will be flagged off at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.

According to her, the runners will run through the Tafawa Balewa Square, NITEL, Bonny Camp, and Bar Beach through Falomo Round about before terminating the race back at Tafawa Balewa Square Lagos.

Popoola added that, the runners in the Veterans category will also go home cash prizes, as the champion in this category will take home a whopping N500,000.

She stressed that, all arrangements have been concluded with security agencies in Lagos State to ensure adequate security for all runners and participants.
