Everton hold an interest in Wolves winger Adama Traore and the Molineux club will accept an offer of £10m for the player, claims a report.
The 26-year-old spent the second half on last season on loan at his old club Barcelona. But Traore could not repeat the form he showed for Wolves in 2019/10. And in fact he managed just four assists in 17 appearances for Barca.
Barcelona had agreed a loan move with a £29m purchase option this summer. But Xavi and Barcelona politely declined to take up that clause.
Spurs were also interested in the winger and Sky Sports reported the London club had a £15m bid for Traore turned down in the winter. Traore was set on returning to the club where he started his career in 2013.
But now with his career at a crossroads, Wolves will accept just £10m for Traore, according to Football Insider. With just 12 months remaining on his contract at Molineux the midlands club do not want to lose him for free next summer.
Everton have registered their interest in the winger. Director of football Kevin Thelwell made Traore Wolves’ club-record signing in 2018 and he is a big fan of the former Middlesbrough man.
The fee should not cause Everton too many issues either. But Traore is said to be holding out for a move to a top-four club.
Ironically he could have had that had at Spurs had he not pursued a move “back home” to Barcelona.
Leeds were believed to be chasing Traore earlier in the summer. However, Victor Orta has since landed Feyenoord flyer Luis Sinisterra, who ate 23 seems a better prospect.
But the chances of the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea or Spurs coming in for Traore seem slim.
Spurs obviously seem the best bet for Traore after Antonio Conte’s interest in the player in the winter. But a closer look at the right-sided player’s stats shows exactly why a move to an elite club is a long shot.
Traore has scored just eight goals and collected 16 assists in 160 Premier League games for Wolves, Boro and Aston Villa.
