Ghana President, Nana Akufo-Addo, has joked that Ghanaians will kidnap Black Stars coach, Otto Addo when he returns to the country.

Akufo-Addo said this while congratulating Addo, Black Stars players, including captain Thomas Partey for ensuring Ghana qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup ahead of Nigeria.

Ghana defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria to qualify for this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

Speaking with Addo via a phone call after Ghana played a 1-1 draw with the Super Eagles at the MKO Abiola Stadium on Tuesday, Akufo-Addo said: “Well done, but when you come back here, we are going to kidnap you.

“We are not going to allow you to go back to Dortmund, so be very careful when you are entering, you might not be able to leave Ghana again.

“Thank you, I appreciate, is the best possible birthday the president could have had, the news of your qualification for the World Cup. It is excellent.

“Congratulations to you, congratulations to all the boys, the captain Partey, all of them. I am hoping to see you when you come tomorrow.”
