World Cup: Okocha names greatest player ever

Former Nigeria international, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, has named Argentina legend Diego Maradone as the greatest player ever.

Okocha stated this during his pre-match analysis for the second Round of 16 clash at the World Cup between Argentina and Australia.

He was responding to the stat that showed Lionel Messi is yet to score in the knockout rounds of the competition.

Okocha was asked if Messi’s failure to achieve the feat wouldn’t help him overtake Maradona.

But he replied: “Maradona for me, is the greatest player in history.

“Messi can try and match his record.

“But Messi is Messi. And his impact in the national team has been immense.

“Tonight all hopes lie on his shoulder.”
