Brazil forward, Neymar, has said that he would play this year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar like it’s the last tournament in his career.
Neymar said this while hinting that the World Cup in Qatar could be the last in terms of his international career for Brazil’s national team.
The 30-year-old played in the previous two World Cups but has yet to win a major trophy with Brazil.
“I’ll play like it is the last,” Neymar told Globo. “I talk to my father, we always talk, to play each game as if it were the last because you don’t know what will happen tomorrow.
“I can’t guarantee that I will play another [World] Cup. I honestly don’t know. I will play like it is the last. Maybe I will play another one, maybe not. It depends. There is going to be a coaching change, and I don’t know if that coach will like me.”
He added, “I have already built a long history in the national team, and, for sure, I want to finish it well.”
Neymar made his debut with the senior team at 18.
The former Barcelona star is two goals from, equalling Brazil’s all-time highest goal scorer Pele.
