In anticipation of the Yucateco Boxing PAN African Championship Belt set to take place today in Uzebba-Luleha, Owan West L.G.A of Edo State, the Aiyegbeni Boxing Club, one of the participating teams, has honored the Royal Father of the Irrua Kingdom.
Yesterday, Hon. Felix Ibhade, the former Senior Special Assistant to the Edo State Governor and ex-leader of the Esan Central legislative arm, led the boxing delegation to the palace of His Royal Highness, Alhaji W.O. Momodu, the Ogieirrua of the Irrua Kingdom and Okaijiesan of Esanland, to seek his royal blessing.
Hon. Ibhade emphasized that the Ogieirrua of Irrua Palace is one of the most esteemed in Edo State, and it is also the hometown of the late renowned boxing promoter, High Chief Francis Aiyegbeni, who made a significant impact on boxing both in Nigeria and globally.

This event aligns with the vision of Hon. Omonlei Yakubu Imadu, President of the Boxing Promoters Association of Nigeria (BPAN) and Chairman/CEO of Yucateco Boxing Promotions, to foster the development of boxing, particularly at the grassroots level.
BPAN spokesperson Edna Bola Aiyegbeni, who also heads the Francis Aiyegbeni Boxing Club, expressed her gratitude to Yucateco for bringing the boxing event to Edo State, particularly her hometown of Irrua in Owan West L.G.A. She urged her boxers to honor her father’s legacy by performing exceptionally in the championship.
