The Nigerian Army has arrested 18 individuals linked to supplying logistics to Boko Haram terrorists in the North East, warning communities against aiding insurgents.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Wednesday, the Army said the suspects were intercepted while moving through Gubio towards the Gudumbali axis, allegedly intending to deliver supplies to terrorist elements.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were drawn into the illicit trade largely due to economic hardship, highlighting how criminal networks exploit vulnerable individuals.
The Army emphasised that “providing logistics, intelligence, or assistance to such elements remains a serious offence, with grave consequences for national security and the safety of innocent lives.”

It urged citizens to support counter-terrorism efforts, stressing that “the effectiveness of ongoing operations depends greatly on the vigilance, cooperation, and active support of host communities.”
“Citizens are therefore encouraged to promptly report suspicious activities and resist any inducement to aid criminal elements.”
It further emphasised the need for socio-economic support and community-focused initiatives, noting that “continued support for government efforts in empowerment, skills development, and access to basic services will further discourage negative influences and promote lawful means of livelihood.”
The statement concluded by reaffirming the Army’s commitment to safeguarding communities, adding, “Lasting peace and stability can only be achieved through a unified approach, where security operations are complemented by broad-based developmental efforts and strong community partnerships.
“The public is therefore urged to continue standing resolutely with the Armed Forces in rejecting terrorism in all its forms.”
