Super Eagles B will train at the main bowl of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja for the first time today since their return from Cape Coast, Ghana in the ill-fated first leg of the African Nations Championship Qualifiers.
The Eagles B lost 2-0 in the first leg of the doubleheader and they must try to better that result in Abuja this weekend if they do not want to kiss the 2023 CHAN goodbye.
Outcry continues to pour in on the social media over the inability of the Super Eagles B to train and familiarize themselves with the turf of the venue of the Saturday tie.
But media aide to the Sports Minister, Toyin Ibitoye said:
“The main pitch of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja will be rolled for the second time today (yesterday) and lined for Saturday’s CHAN game so the @NGSuperEagles can train there on Thursday and Friday.
This decision was communicated to the team last week
“It was based on the professional advice of the grounds men and the stadium manager. The officials of @NGSuperEagles B team understand this is also in their best interest. Please let’s always get clarification on these issues before lashing out on social media.
“This is the present state of the pitch at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. It is 90% of what we planned for but it is good enough for Saturday’s game.”
