2023 U17 AFCON: Burkina Faso, Nigeria fight for World Cup ticket

Date:

Golden Eaglets of Nigeria will face Burkina Faso in the quarter-finals of the 2023 CAF U17 African Nations Cup. Both Senegal and Nigeria had to wait for the clash between Burkina Faso and Cameroon to be over, to have a glimpse of whom their next opponents would be.

According to CAF’s official website, the Golden Eaglets who finished 2nd in Group B will face the team that finished second in Group C – which eventually was Burkina Faso.

Burkina Faso earned three points from three games to finish behind Group C leaders Mali, who have a quarter-final date with Congo.

Senegal on the other hand will face the third placed team in the best of thirds.

And following South Sudan’s disqualification, Zambia, Congo, and Cameroon finished as best thirds of Groups B, A, and C, respectively.

Since the third placed team in the best of thirds turned out to be Cameroon, the final quarterfinal clash is now settled.

So, the quarterfinal fixtures for the 2023 U17-AFCON are as follows:

Senegal U-17 vs Cameroon U-17

Morocco U-17 vs Algeria U-17

Mali U-17 vs Congo U-17

Nigeria U-17 vs Burkina Faso U-17

The games are scheduled for Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th of May, 2023, at 5 pm and 8 pm on both days.

The five times world champions, Eaglets will trade tackles with Burkina Faso for the semi-final ticket on Thursday. All semifinalists will represent Africa at the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup.
