Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that his administration has the political capacity to deliver the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
Fubara spoke on Monday at the inauguration of the Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters in Elimgbu, Port Harcourt, where members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee were in attendance.
He assured the APC leaders that his resolve to work for Tinubu’s second term remained firm, describing the decision as a deliberate move to reciprocate the support and protection his administration has received from the President.
According to the governor, ensuring Tinubu’s return in 2027 would serve as a mark of appreciation to the President for standing by Rivers State during critical moments.
“We have taken a decision in the best interest of Rivers State. That decision is to say thank you for the protection we received from Mr President. We want to prove that we have what it takes to return Mr President in 2027,” Fubara said.

Turning to the housing project, the governor said the initiative was designed to restore the dignity of permanent secretaries and address conditions that encourage unethical practices within the civil service.
He argued that adequate welfare reduces the temptation for fraud, noting that many sharp practices stem from personal and economic insecurity rather than deliberate criminal intent.
“If you have the basic needs of life, do you need to get involved in anything criminal? Most people engage in such acts because of insecurity—uncertainty about tomorrow and how to provide for their families,” he said.
Fubara recalled that in the past, permanent secretaries were provided with official quarters and vehicles upon appointment, a practice he said helped to stabilise the service and enhance productivity.
He said his administration resolved to revive that culture by prioritising housing as a critical incentive to discourage corner-cutting, improve efficiency and strengthen governance in Rivers State and beyond.
The governor pledged that other categories of civil servants would also benefit from similar welfare interventions, adding that the housing project would stand as one of the enduring legacies of his administration.
He expressed satisfaction that the inauguration coincided with the visit of the APC National Working Committee, describing it as a demonstration of the importance attached to the project.
While handing over the facility, Fubara urged beneficiaries to take responsibility for its maintenance, warning against neglect and misuse of government property.
He also called on the Rivers State Head of Service to appoint a facility manager to ensure proper upkeep, stressing that the quarters were carefully designed to provide comfort and enable civil servants to perform optimally in service to the state.
