Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Mandate Secretary for Education, Danlami Hayyo, on Monday disclosed that FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has overseen the renovation of more than 100 schools across the nation’s capital.
Hayyo, who officially resumed office following the lifting of his suspension, told reporters that no other state is currently matching the FCT’s level of investment in school infrastructure.
He said 60 to 70 per cent of the ongoing renovations will be completed by the first quarter of 2026, paving the way for a series of commissioning events.
“What the minister is doing now, definitely, no state in the federation is doing it. Over 100 schools have been completely renovated. Some projects are ongoing; some renovations are completed. If you visit some of our schools, you would feel as if you are in London, France, or Germany, while still being in an FCT school,” Hayyo said.

The mandate secretary also reaffirmed his full loyalty to Minister Wike, expressing gratitude for his reinstatement and outlining his agenda for the Education Secretariat, including staff training, school safety, and continued infrastructural development.
“I want to tell you, yes, my loyalty to the FCT Minister is 100 per cent,” he stated, stressing continuity with the Minister’s transformation agenda.
Addressing reforms following his return, Hayyo announced immediate ‘Refresher Training’ for directors, aimed at preventing a recurrence of the incident that led to his suspension. He explained that the incident involved a director circulating an unauthorized communication.
“We have to embark on Refresher Training to ensure all directors, newly appointed and existing, understand their mandates, how they should operate, and the approval channels they must follow,” he said.
On school safety, Hayyo reassured parents and teachers, emphasizing that all FCT schools remain secure.
“All the FCT schools are very safe. We don’t have any security threats in FCT schools,” he said.
