The Edo State House of Assembly ad hoc committees probing the funding and ownership of the Museum of West African Art (MOWAA) and the Radisson Blu Hotel have recommended that Governor Monday Okpebholo take possession of both assets.
The recommendation is contained in the report submitted by the committees to the Assembly.
The committees noted that former governor Godwin Obaseki, the management of MOWAA and other invited stakeholders declined invitations to appear before the lawmakers during the investigation.

Counsel to MOWAA, Mr Olayiwola Afolabi, told the committees that his client would not honour the summons, citing pending litigation on the matter. He said any outcome or recommendation from the legislative probe would ultimately be subject to judicial determination.
In their findings, the committees reported that the land titles for both projects were traced to the Edo State Government and that public funds were used in financing the developments.
The lawmakers said the evidence before them established the state’s proprietary interest in the projects, forming the basis of their recommendation that the government take possession of the investments.
