AFCON 2021: Salah under pressure to win international honor with Egypt

Egypt’s talismanic captain Mohamed Salah says there’s pressure on him to win his first honor with the Pharaohs and hopes the AFCON 2021 is the one.

Salah, who is capped 40 times by Egypt reached the final of the AFCON in 2017 but suffered the disappointment of a second round exit in only his second appearance in the competition and on home soil.

Speaking at the presser ahead of the opening group D game against Nigeria on Tuesday, the 29 year-old expressed hope, to deliver on the yearnings of the fans back home, when asked if he was under pressure by the amount of support he was shown in Garoua.

“”The real pressure is back home, they say I have not won a title for the nation, but hopefully, I can do it with this tournament.”
