AFCON: Musa, Peseiro differ on social media censorship in Super Eagles

Super Eagles captain ,Ahmed Musa, has dismissed the idea of social media censorship by the team coach, Jose Peseiro, at the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

Musa defended his teammates’ activities on social media, and how they deal with negative online comments, even in the crucial stages of their preparations for the tournament.

The 31 year-old insists the players don’t need any catering to nor does the Coach have to set such camp rules to check their activities online.

“We are not kids that the coach would supervise our social media activities. We don’t take everything on social media to heart,” the Super Eagles captain said in the pre-match presser on Saturday.

However, head Coach Jose Peseiro had a different view to how his players have managed social media attention lately.

“These boys care. You think they’re strong but the things said on social media affect them,” Peseiro insists.

“Some can handle it, but not everybody is mentally strong.

“Of course on the pitch they are very capable of dealing with pressure, but off it, the impact is different and especially when it comes from fans back home.”
