Ailing Henry Nwosu Arrives Lagos For Treatment

Ailing former Super Eagles midfielder, Henry Nwosu, has arrived in Lagos at 7:20pm Wednesday night for medical treatment.

The former midfield maestro who was accompanied by his two sisters and a medical doctor was immediately taken into a waiting ambulance to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

The 59-year-old, who is being taken care of at the Asaba Specialist hospital in Delta State since February is battling to stay alive, having spent all his fortune in the process.

Nwosu, was transferred from the Asaba Specialist hospital in Delta State, to the well-equipped hospital in Lagos where he will receive further treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

The move is to aid his medical treatment to avoid an untimely demise.

The Delta State government has fulfilled its pledge by taking full financial responsibility for all of Henry’s care in Asaba. With his deteriorating situation, however, everyone in the loop of the conversations since yesterday (Monday) has agreed that Henry (Nwosu) needs to be moved immediately to a higher level of medical facilities and care,” he added.

The Governor of Lagos State, on being informed about it, directed immediately that the doors to Lagos State’s best medical facilities be thrown open to Henry. The Delta State government had been informed about it and they are happy to cooperate and make it happen ASAP. The pledge by the Imo State government still sustains and all they need is information on developments.

Meanwhile, the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau on Tuesday visited former Nwosu in Asaba where he is receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment for some weeks now.

Nwosu, the youngest player in the Nigeria squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations title on home soil in 1980, had been in the hospital for some time now, with top politicians, captains of industry and football chieftains all showing interest in his health status.

“I can assure you that all Nigerians, from our political leaders to business gurus and all football people, are interested in seeing you recover from this illness,” Gusau said in a statement.
