American businessman Tom Wagner is set to buy Birmingham City.

The Championship club have announced that Wagner’s Shelby Companies Limited is taking control of 45.64 percent of the club and all of St Andrews Stadium.

Wagner is also behind the Knighthead Capital Management group, which oversees more than $9 billion in investments.

The group Shelby Companies Limited is a direct reference to the Peaky Blinders TV show, which is loosely based on a historic Birmingham street gang.
