Taofeek Ajilesoro, the member representing Ife Federal Constituency in Osun State, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ajilesoro was among the PDP leaders who had previously pledged to follow Governor Ademola Adeleke to any political party he chose.

But, on Tuesday, Governor Adeleke revealed that his planned defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was thwarted. He has since urged his supporters to remain with the PDP.

However, Ajilesoro dumped the party on Tuesday night notifying PDP party leaders in a letter dated July 22nd 2025 of Ilare Ward II, Ife Central Local Government, Osun State of his resignation from the party.

The letter, which was copied National Assembly, PDP National Working Committee and others reads: ”Please accept this letter as formal notification of my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party
(PDP), effective immediately.

“This decision, though difficult, has become necessary due to the persistent internal conflicts, deep-seated divisions, and the pervasive culture of legal disputes that have unfortunately come to characterise the party.”

A source hinted another Federal lawmaker may dump PDP on Wednesday.
