ASABA 2022: Igali Splashes 200k Largesse On Team Bayelsa For Gold, 100k For Silver And 50k For Bronze

Bayelsa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Daniel Igali has splashed a N200,000 largesse on Team Bayelsa for gold medals won at the 21st National Sports Festival going on in Asaba, Delta State.

According to the Olympian who has assured Bayelsans of a podium finish by Team Bayelsa at the Games, said the contingents are in Asaba to compete for medals in every sports.

While explaining that the allowances and athletes entitlement have been paid, Igali announced an instant reward for every medalists.

“The sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira is for every gold medal won, One Hundred Thousand for silver and Fifty Thousand Naira for bronze medal.

“This is aside the normal government reward for athletes who have made the state proud,” he said.

Meanwhile, the 21st National Sports Festival has been characteristized with poor organization, lack of shuttle buses to venues and inability of the media to access the medal table after day three of the spectacle.

Taekwondo gave team Bayelsa its first gold medal in the Male Poomsae event with outstanding display from Oluwasesan Abodunrin.

Golf recorded the second gold for Bayelsa as Solomon Ideriah won gold in the stroke play.
