Popular Fuji musician and Olori Omooba of Ijebuland, Otunba Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM1, has taken Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, to the Ogun State High Court sitting in Ijebu-Ode, seeking an interim injunction to halt the selection and installation of the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

Also listed as defendants are the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Dare Alebiosu; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat; the Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Oke Adebanjo; the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, Dr Olorogun Sunny Kuku; and the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi.

The suit, marked HC3/238/2025, is contained in a court document dated December 16, 2025, which has since gone viral and was obtained by our correspondent.

Ayinde had earlier declared interest in the vacant Awujale stool, claiming royal lineage traced to the Jadiara Royal House within the larger Fusengbuwa Ruling House.

However, the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, constitutionally saddled with producing the next Awujale, rejected his claim, insisting that the Fuji musician does not belong to the royal lineage eligible for the throne.

In a motion ex parte filed before High Court 2, Ayinde stated that the application was brought pursuant to Orders 38 Rule 4 and 39 Rule 1 of the Ogun State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2024; Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended); and under the court’s inherent jurisdiction.

He urged the court to restrain the defendants from taking any further steps in the selection process pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.

The applicant also asked the court to grant an interim injunction to protect his interest and preserve the subject matter from being dissipated or interfered with by the defendants.

The court has yet to fix a date for the hearing of the motion.
