Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi gets nod for Ghana vs Nigeria WCQ

Ghana Football Association (GFA) have revealed that CAF has given the nod for Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi to host the crucial 2022 World Cup playoffs first leg match between Ghana vs Nigeria, on March 25, after rejecting the original venue of Cape Coast Stadium.

Interestingly, had the Kumasi stadium not been approved, Ghana would have been forced to play the game in Benin Republic or Morocco.

According to a report on the official website of the GFA, CAF listed several improvements that must be made at the newly approved arena.

In the event these improvements are not made, Ghana will be fined warned CAF.

The reverse fixture of the playoffs will be held at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja with the overall winner qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November.
