Bafana to announce squad against Nigeria Thursday

Bafana Bafana of South Africa head coach Hugo Broos will on Thursday May 30, announce his final squad ahead of next week’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

On May 15, Broos named a 36-man preliminary squad for next month’s qualifiers.

Bafana Bafana will be guests to the Super Eagles in Uyo on Friday, 7 June 2024 and then return to host Zimbabwe at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, 11 June 2024.

Familiar faces like Ronwen Williams, Themba Zwane, Percy Tau, Teboho Mokoena and Khuliso Mudau who were at the AFCON 2023 finals, appear in Broos’ squad.

Orlando Pirates starlet Relebohile Mofokeng has been called up for the first time after some impressive club performances.

Stellenbosch defender Thabo Moloisane has also received a maiden call-up

Now according to Sowetan Live, Broos will announce the final 23-man squad for the qualifiers.

Bafana Bafana occupy second spot on three points while the Eagles are third on two points in Group C.

The last time both teams met was in the semi-finals of the AFCON which the Eagles won 4-2 on penalties after regulation time ended 1-1.
