Former Real Madrid star, Hugo Sanchez, has named striker, Karim Benzema, as the player that deserves to win the 2022 Ballon d’Or.
Sanchez believes Benzema deserves to win the Ballon d’Or after guiding Real Madrid to win the Champions League this year.
Benzema, 34, has established himself as a true legend at Real Madrid over the years.
The France international joined the Spanish LaLiga champions back in 2009 from his boyhood club, Lyon and has never looked back.
Speaking to MARCA, Sanchez lauded Benzema, saying: “It’s this year’s Ballon d’Or. It’s very noticeable when Benzema is on the pitch and when he’s not.
“With his experience, maturity, quality and leadership, he has shown that he deserves it [Ballon d’Or], and more so with the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.”
He added: “Before, players from the American continent were discriminated against because they couldn’t vote for us to win the Ballon d’Or.”
