Ballon d’Or: Gabriel Martinelli insists Arsenal star should’ve won award

Arsenal forward, Gabriel Martinelli has expressed his admiration for teammate, Jorginho, stating that the midfielder should have won the Ballon d’Or.

The Ballon d’Or is traditionally awarded to the best football player of the year, with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo dominating the award for the past decade.

Jorginho secured third place in the 2021 rankings, behind Messi and Robert Lewandowski.

Martinelli’s comments highlight the admiration that the Arsenal team has for Jorginho’s talent and suggests that other footballers may have shared his opinion.

“This here is one of Jorginho’s strengths, I can’t even find the words to describe it,” the Brazilian said via (Arsenal’s YouTube channel).

“I think he deserved to win the Ballon d’Or a while ago.”
