Banyana Banyana striker Jermaine Seoposenwe made history in Mexico after she scored the fastest goal in Liga MX Femenil history, finding the back of the net in just 9 seconds.
Immediately after kick-off, Seoposenwe capitalised on an error made by the opposition and made a driving run to the opposing box before slotting the ball into the bottom corner to give her side the early lead.
Seoposenwe was on fire as she completed her brace in the 53rd minute to put the game beyond doubt and take all three points.
After joining FC Juarez from Portuguese side Braga last month, the 28-year-old has had a solid start in Mexico. Monday night’s brace took her league tally up to three goals so far. Seoposenwe’s start got even better because alongside her brace, she received the “Woman of the Match” in the 3-0 win over Necaxa.
Eyebrows were raised when she left Europe to join the South American outfit. But with performances like these, she will most certainly prove the doubters wrong.
Her performances saw her earn a recall into the Banyana squad and she was picked for Desiree Ellis’s squad for the upcoming friendly against Australia in preparation for the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
Juarez, who sit 11th on the log, next face Pachuca FC and it is a game where the Bafana star will certainly be kept tightly marked.
