No fewer than 150 delegates of the Accord Party are set to select the party’s governorship candidate after Governor Ademola Adeleke was cleared as the sole contender.

Adeleke formally joined the party on Tuesday evening, following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing internal crisis as the reason for his departure.

At the time of filing this report, the 150 delegates—five from each local government area of the state—were seated at the venue, ready to commence the exercise.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Elder Ibe Thankgod, chairman of the Accord Screening Committee and national organising secretary of the party, confirmed that Adeleke had met all the requirements for nomination and participation at the primary.

Thankgod presented a certificate of clearance to the governor, describing him as a worthy gubernatorial aspirant.

In response, Adeleke thanked the screening committee and party leadership, affirming his readiness to lead the Accord Party to victory in 2026.

“I am ready for the primary and I am ready for the general elections. We are winning by God’s grace,” the governor said.
