…957 delegates accredited for PDP governorship primary
A heavy deployment of security personnel was observed on Tuesday at the Adolak Event Centre, Osogbo, as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) pressed ahead with plans to hold its 2026 Osun governorship primary.
The development came despite an earlier declaration by the state chapter, led by Chairman Sunday Bisi, that the December 2, 2025 primary could not proceed due to the unresolved national leadership crisis.
Bisi had also suggested that Governor Ademola Adeleke might not seek the party’s ticket under the prevailing circumstances.
But the PDP National Organising Secretary, Hon. Theophilous Shan, insisted that the exercise would go on as scheduled, dismissing the state chapter’s position.

At the venue, security was tight, with personnel from the Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Department of State Services (DSS) stationed around the premises.
The party’s primary committee, chaired by Mr. Humphery Abba, and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were also present.
Screening of delegates from the 30 local government areas of Osun State had been concluded at the time of filing this report.
A member of the committee confirmed that 957 out of 990 delegates had been accredited.
He added that two aspirants: Senator Ademola Adeleke and Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola were initially in the race, but Adeleke has since withdrawn from the party.
