Brighton have received a bid from Serie A side Salernitana for striker Neal Maupay.
The Frenchman is the Seagulls’ joint-top goalscorer during their time in the Premier League, having netted 26 league strikes since his move from Brentford in 2019. One more goal would see him overtake Glenn Murray as the outright leading scorer in the top flight.
Brighton are considering the offer – worth €8m with a further €7m in add-ons – but are understood to want more of the fee paid up front.
Increased competition for places could also be a factor, with Maupay set to be challenged by new arrival Deniz Undav. The German striker racked up 43 goals in 63 Jupiler Pro League appearances for Union SG and played against his old side for the Seagulls in a recent friendly between the two clubs.

Morgan De Sanctis, the former Napoli and Italy goalkeeper, was recently appointed Salernitana’s new sporting director and is also targeting a move for Hertha BSC striker Krzysztof Piatek with the view of him playing alongside Maupay.
Maupay lost his place in Graham Potter’s starting XI during the final weeks of last season as Danny Welbeck was preferred, but he scored twice in last week’s friendly victory against Estoril playing alongside Welbeck.
