CAF Assigns Moroccan referee to officiate Nigeria vs Congo Playoff

Moroccan referee Jalal Jayed will be at the centre on Sunday when the Super Eagles square up against the Democratic Republic of Congo in the decisive 2026 World Cup playoff final.

Jayed, DAILY POST recalls, also handled Nigeria’s Matchday Five clash with Rwanda in March — a fixture the Eagles won 2–0 at Kigali’s Amahoro Stadium, powered by a Victor Osimhen double.

The 38-year-old’s compatriots, Mustapha Akarkad and Zakaria Bernissi, will serve as first and second assistant referees, respectively.

Mahrez El Malki of Tunisia will act as the fourth official, while VAR duties will be handled by Lahlou Benbraham of Algeria and Tunisia’s Haitham Guirat.
