Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain full-back Achraf Hakimi has been crowned the 2025 African Player of the Year in the men’s category at the CAF Awards.
Hakimi beat Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah to the honour after a standout season in which he played a key role in PSG’s trophy-laden campaign, including their Champions League triumph.

He was announced winner on Wednesday night at the awards ceremony in Rabat, Morocco.
Earlier, CAF released the full nomination list for the 2025 awards, highlighting the top performers across the continent and beyond. The men’s category drew from players whose contributions for club and country between January 6 and October 15, 2025, stood out.
According to a statement on CAF’s website, nominees were selected by a panel comprising the CAF Technical & Development Committee, seasoned coaches, CAF Legends and accredited media representatives. The panel shortlisted 10 players in each category based on their impact across all competitions during the review period.
