Moroccan forward Ghizlane Chebbak has been named the 2025 CAF Women’s Player of the Year, earning one of African football’s top honours after an outstanding season.
The 35-year-old received the award on Wednesday, November 19, at the CAF Awards ceremony in Rabat, Morocco.
Chebbak emerged winner from a competitive shortlist that included Nigeria’s Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, and fellow Moroccan, Sanna Mssoudy. Her remarkable consistency—particularly at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON)—secured her place at the summit of women’s football on the continent.
At WAFCON, she claimed the Golden Boot with five goals and was named in the Team of the Tournament. Her influence extended beyond Africa as she also earned a spot in the FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World 11, underscoring her global standing.
Ajibade, who finished second, enjoyed an exceptional year of her own. She led Nigeria to a record 10th WAFCON title, won the tournament’s Best Player award, made the Team of the Year, and sealed a notable transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
