Kwara United produced a spirited display to edge out holders RS Berkane of Morocco 3-1 in their CAF Confederation Cup first-round, first-leg contest at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, on Sunday.
RS Berkane proved too difficult to handle for the Harmony Boys early in the encounter watched by a large crowd at the beautiful ground.
The hosts went behind on seven minutes when Burkina Faso forward Cheick Djibril Ouattara fired home from inside the box.
Kwara United turned the game around in the last 17 minutes.
Ahmed Taofeek equalised for the home team on 73 minutes.
Forward Wasiu Jimoh put Kwara United ahead for the first time in the game in the 81st minute.
Kwara United extended their advantage through Barnabas Daniel two minutes from time.
The return leg will hold next weekend at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.
