CAF PlayOff: Plateau United Departs For Libya Via Qatar Airline

Plateau United have left Nigeria for Libya ahead of Wednesday’s CAF Confederations Cup Play-off 2nd leg tie against Al-Akhdar.

The travelling party which comprises, players, coaches and other backroom staff will be led by the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, Executive Committee member, representing the North-East geopolitical zone, Timothy Henman.

Plateau United on Sunday departed the shores of Nigeria via Murtala Mohamed International Airport, Lagos aboard a Qatar Airways flight to Doha before connecting another flight to Benghazi, Libya.

The Peace Boys who narrowly missed out of the group stage of the lucrative CAF Champions League to Esperance of Tunisia in controversial circumstances are heading to this tie, after a 4-1 thrashing of Al-Akhdar in the 1st leg of the competition played at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja last Wednesday.

The 2017 Nigeria Professional Football League Champions only need a draw or avoid a 3-0 defeat scoreline, to secure their passage to the group stage of the second-tier, CAF club competition.

Plateau United who have never gone beyond the preliminary stage of any CAF club competition, has already earmarked the group stage this time around, as their benchmark this season after two unsuccessful attempts in 2018 and 2020.
