CAFCC: Enyimba Stands Tall Towards Group Stage, Defeats Ittihad 2-0

Date:

With the first leg on hold, Nigeria’s representative in the confederation cup Enyimba international on Sunday defeated visiting Al Ittihad of Libya in the second leg of the competition,

The first leg was supposed to have taken place last weekend but was postponed indefinitely by CAF after Enyimba international was unable to enter the Tunisia venue of the match due to the covid 19 restrictions.

Their effort quickly laid off as they netted the opening goal through Sadeeq Yusuf which pegged back the Libyan side.

Victor Mbaoma quickly out the game beyond the North Africans by netting the second goal just before halftime.

Al Ittihad came into the second half trying to reduce the deficit but all their efforts proved abortive as the backline of the Nigeria side stood their ground ensured that the game ended 2-0.

African soccer governing body will have to decide on the first leg and the entire fixtures to determine which team proceed to the group stage.

After the Victory Victor Mboma told SportsDay that, ” i am very happy for todays victory against the visiting Littihad not minding what we suffered in the first leg.

“Its a sweet victory and i must thank god for it. atleast we are up to group stage if CAF decision favour’s us anyway. Mboma said.
