Joe Aribo will return to Southampton’s lineup for Tuesday evening’s Carabao Cup match after being left on the bench during the club’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at St Mary’s last weekend.
The 28-year-old midfielder, who started Southampton’s first three Premier League matches this season, will make his 2024/25 Carabao Cup debut.

He was not part of the squad that secured a 5-3 victory in the competition’s second round in August.
Aribo is set to start for the fourth time in seven Carabao Cup games and will be aiming to record his first goal or assist of the season, as well as his first in the competition since his debut with Charlton Athletic in August 2017.
At Deepdale, Alex Iwobi and Calvin are starting on the bench in Fulham’s clash with Preston North End.
Iwobi, who has netted four goals in 26 Carabao Cup appearances, will be hoping to come off the bench and add to his tally, aiming for a fifth goal to maintain his status as the leading Nigerian scorer in the competition following Kelechi Iheanacho’s move to Spain.
Iheanacho remains the all-time top-scoring Nigerian in the Carabao Cup with 10 goals.
Additionally, Bassey will be looking to make his fourth appearance in the competition and contribute to his team’s efforts.
