Cameroon coach, Antonio Conceiçao has reacted to his side’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, third-place final win over Burkina Faso on Saturday night.
Conceiçao said he was satisfied with the performance of some of his players as Cameroon defeated Burkina Faso to win the Bronze medal.
Cameroon came from 3-0 down to level 3-3 and eventually defeated Burkina Faso 5-3 on penalties.
Goals from Steeve Yago, Andre Onana (OG), Djibril Ouattara, Stephane Bahoken and Vincent Aboubakar (two) ensured both Burkina Faso and Cameroon drew after 120 minutes.
Speaking after the game, Conceiçaoss said at his post-match press conference: “48 hours after playing extra time, I couldn’t take any risks with the players and that’s why I reshuffled my team.
“We saw several players play tonight and I’m satisfied with the performance of several players. We have a first objective which was to play the final, but it was decided on details in the semi-final against Egypt. Today, we demonstrated the strength of character of this group and we won on penalties”.
