Count down to FA cup showdown: ASABA BUBBLES

*Teams arrive
*NFF big wigs also
*Sensitisation reaches crescendo

Barring the unforseen, the government and people of Delta State are now set to host the rest of Nigeria in tomorrow’s grand finale of this year’s federation cup historically known as the challenge cup.

Asaba, the state capital is bubbling with the arrival of the gladiators from Enugu, Benin City, Yenegoa and Port Harcourt for the epic finals that will feature two matches in both female and male categories.

From 2pm, Bayelsa Queens and Rivers Angels will rekindle their rivalry in what has been dubbed a grudge match, because, just 10 days ago, both sides met at the same venue during the super six competition of the female league with the girls from Yenegoa winning 1-0.

Will it be a repeat of that cracker?
Following suit by 5pm is the crunchy tie between Bendel Insurance of Benin and Rangers International of Enugu. This is third meeting of both teams in a setting as this. In those other encounters, they won one apiece.

Meanwhile, reports say that officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), led by it’s President, Ibrahim Gusau, have breezed into town for the show down just as fans of the teams are making their way to the coastal city.

Also, Chief Tonobok Okowa, Executive Chairman of Delta State Sports Commission, and his team are working round the clock to ensure a hitch free cup finals even as he reaffirmed the decision of the state government to throw the gates open for free in consideration of harsh times Nigerians are experiencing.
