Danjuma Unfazed as Falconets Prepare to Face Japan in Bogota

Head Coach Chris Danjuma remains optimistic as the Falconets gear up to face Japan in the knockout stages of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals in Colombia this Friday.

The Falconets, having finished second in Group D with six points from three matches, will take on Japan in Bogota. This will be a significant challenge, given Japan’s strong reputation in women’s football.

Danjuma commented: “The girls have worked tirelessly to reach this stage, and we are very proud of their achievements. We are approaching the knockout stages one match at a time. We are excited about facing Japan and the opportunities it presents.”

The match between Nigeria and Japan will be held at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo in Bogota, where the Falconets played their initial group stage games against Korea Republic and Germany. The game is scheduled to kick off at 2 am Nigeria time (8 pm Thursday in Colombia) on September 13.

Two years ago, the Falconets were eliminated in the quarter-finals by the Netherlands during a competition that featured 16 teams. This year’s edition started with 24 teams, which have been narrowed down to 16 for the knockout stages.
