Dare elected as Vice Chairman of OIC Sports Ministers

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare has been elected as Vice Chairman of the Bureau of the 5th session of the Youth and Sports Ministerial Conference of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States taking place in Saudi Arabia.

With this election, Nigeria leads the African group of 27 countries out of 57 member states drawn from Africa, Asia, and Arab states.

Dare is now the vice chair of the 5th session alongside Pakistan and Palestine.

speaking at the event, Dare described sports as a unifying instrument while commending the custodian of the two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince, Muhammad Bin Salman, and the entire people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting the conference coupled with the warm reception and hospitality extended.

He said: “The importance of youth development in every society cannot be over-emphasized. The youth who forms the vast majority of our population, are our most valuable assets for national development.

“It is, therefore, our responsibility as present leaders to mentor, guide, and protect them in order to play their rightful role in the future.

“ That is why Nigeria under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to promoting youth and sports development in the Ummah,” Dare added.
