Both the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) and the Department of State Services (DSS) have expressed fears that the protest, scheduled for August 1-10, may not be peaceful.
In separate statements, the DHQ and DSS have highlighted intelligence suggesting that the protest could be used as a cover for violent activities.
The DSS has warned that the ultimate goal of the protest organizers is to effect a change in government, while the DHQ has identified elements seeking to hijack the protest for violent purposes.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has met with All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and traditional rulers to discuss the situation.
National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu assured the governors of adequate support to manage the security threat posed by the planned protest.
In Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike declared that no protests would be allowed in the capital on August 1, which has been designated for recognizing traditional rulers.

The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has distanced itself from the protest, citing concerns about the lack of known organizers.

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu urged youths to reconsider participating in the protest, citing potential negative impacts on the economy.
The Southeast caucus of the House of Representatives also advised against participation, pointing to ongoing efforts to address regional issues through legislation.
