Egypt, Nigeria Battles For Yucateco Boxing Pan-African Title Belt

It will be a battle between Nigeria and Egypt in the Yucateco boxing Pan-African title fight. The highly anticipated contest is slated for Edo state this week.

Yucateco Boxing Promotions organizers of the groundbreaking event announced in a media Parley in Lagos on Monday that all is set for the five rounds contest which will hold on Wednesday 11th September in Uzebba Luleha, in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State.

The historic contest which is the main event of the Yucateco Boxing League Week 5 will feature two bouts. One in the 63.5kg male, between Abdulwahab Abdulrahman of Nigeria and Mostafa Hafez Egypt. The other is a 60kg female battle between home girl Precious Anine and Egypt’s Hagar Elsayed.

The Chief executive officer of Yucateco boxing promotions Omonlei Yakubu Imadu, said the aim behind the initiative is to give cross-border exposure to amateur pugilists in the continent.

” Abdulwahab and Precious are the most valuable boxers in the male and female category in season One of the Yucateco boxing league, as we speak both pugilists have had over 12 bouts in the league with very impressive results and we believe it’s time for them to be have an international exposure”

” the boxers from Egypt Mostafa and Elsayed are also the best in their respective weight categories so, the Yucateco boxing Pan-African title contest is not only a win for the sport in Nigeria, but to Africa”

Imadu also stated that the winners in both contests will have a maximum of three months to defend their title.

” the bouts has been sanctioned by the Boxing Promoters Association of Nigeria BPAN which i happens to be the president, its a five rounds bout and the winners will have to defend their title after three months”.

It will be recalled that Yucateco boxing promotions held a more expansive version of the Pan-African boxing championship in the Togolese Capital Lomé in May 2024.
