Elegbeleye Distance IMC From 25M Take-Off Grant To NPFL Clubs Report

Date:

Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye has distanced himself and the Interim Management Committee (IMC) from deceptive reports that it plans to give the Nigeria Professional Football League the sum of 25million Naira as a take-off grant.

Two different reports in the sports online media space on Wednesday had reported that the IMC plans an N10 million, with the other quoting 25 million as a take-off grant package for the 20 NPFL clubs, to relieve their financial burden ahead of the 2022/23 season kickoff.

According to Elegbeleye: “There is no iota of truth in the two reports, as it’s completely rubbish created by the writer’s imagination.

“This is pure Fake News, and it’s misleading. There was never a forum where such was discussed.

“All that happened a few days ago was the presentation of the cheque of N100m to the Shooting Stars of Ibadan for winning the Dozy Mmobuosi pre-season tournament and nothing more.

” And then the four clubs who took part in the tourney, Enyimba, Rangers, Insurance and winners 3SC got an N10 million payment each.

“So I don’t understand where the take-off grant fund is coming from.”
