Elegbeleye Expresses Satisfaction Over Successful NPFL Preseason Tournament

Chairman, Interim Management Committee (IMC), Gbenga Elegbeleye has expressed satisfaction following successful hosting of the NPFL/DOXY Super Cup held in Remo and Lagos.

Four Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs with historical heritage: Shooting Stars of Ibadan, Bendel Insurance, Rangers International and Enyimba FC were selected by the league sponsor for One hundred million naira prize ahead of the 2022/23 NPFL season.

In a statement signed by Elegbeleye made available to BSN Sports, the former Director General of National Sports Commission said,

“The Super 4 has come and gone, and it was a huge success. The Hon minister was with us at the Onikan stadium Lagos on Thursday 8th December, he watched the match between Eyimba and Shooting Stars and waited to watch the second match of the day between Enugu Rangers and Bendel Insurance of Benin.

And on Friday, the NFF president and the General Secretary were fully on ground for the final match. The environment was serene and the quality of football displayed was of high class . The final match was won by the Shooting Stars and received a sum of N100m, (one hundred million naira only).

I want to use this opportunity to sincerely appreciate Prince Kunle Soname who bailed us out at the last minute with his world class facilities in Remo without which the tournament would have been very difficult to start.

A very big shout out to the Hon minister, the NFF president, the first Vice president of the NFF, the General Secretary, the HOO of the IMC, the entire committee members of the IMC, our partners and sponsors (Dozi Mmobuosi, the Tingo media group),all the players and officials of the participating teams, our friends in the media and everyone who contributed one way or the other to the success of the pre season tournament.” He concluded.
