Enyimba appoints Yemi Olanrewaju as head coach

Record Nigerian topflight champions Enyimba International have officially confirmed Yemi Olanrewaju as their new head coach.

The announcement was made yesterday, following the signing of Olanrewaju’s contract with the club more than a month ago.

The former Golden Eaglets assistant coach had been acting as interim manager since May, after Finidi George left to become the Super Eagles coach.

The 32-year-old also known as Yema, joined Enyimba as an assistant coach in 2022 and played a crucial role in the club’s league title success in the 2022/23 season under Finidi.

Olarenwaju’s baptism of fire as Enyimba’s substantive coach comes up on September 7, when the club face Beyond Limits in their opening fixture of the 2024/25 NPFL season.

Enyimba will also campaign in Africa’s second tier club competition, the CAF Confederation Cup.
