Enyimba boss, Finidi credits assistant for team’s title success

Enyimba head coach, Finidi George has talked up the importance of his assistant, Yemi Olanrewaju in the team’s title winning campaign.

The Peoples’ Elephant won a record ninth Nigeria Premier League title last season.

Finidi, a former Nigeria international, came under intense criticism after Enyimba finished in fifth position in his first season in charge of the club.

The gaffer recognized the role Yema played in the team’s overall success.

“When Enyimba signed me in my first season, I wanted Yema, but it was difficult. I needed someone who we think football alike. He always challenged me, put me on my toes and wasn’t scared to be expressive,” he told Elegbete TV.

“He always challenged me, put me on my toes and wasn’t scared to be expressive and the work we both did together is visible to see.”
