Arsenal has confirmed that forward Charles Sagoe Jr has signed his first professional contract with the club.
Arsenal disclosed this in a statement via their website on Wednesday.
The statement read in part, “Charles Sagoe Jr has signed his first professional contract with the club.
“The 17-year-old versatile forward joined us from Fulham in July 2015 and has consistently been an attacking threat through the age groups since joining us at age eleven.”
Reacting after signing the contract, Sagoe told Arsenal’s website, “It’s an amazing feeling to sign my first professional contract with Arsenal Football Club.”
“I see the project that Mikel Arteta and Per Mertesacker are doing, how they’re developing young players, and I want to be a part of it.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea are set to sign England winger Raheem Sterling from Manchester City after the England international agreed to a £300,000-a-week contract, according to The Telegraph.
Chelsea will pay Man City a fee in the region of £45 million for Sterling.
Sterling will overtake midfielder N’Golo Kante to become Chelsea’s highest earner with his £300,000-a-week deal.
However, it is understood that talks between Chelsea and Man City will be concluded within the next 24 hours.
Chelsea are hopeful that Sterling, 27, will be able to fly with his new teammates to Los Angeles for the start of their pre-season tour this weekend.
