EPL: He has stepped up, did really well – Potter hails Chelsea star

Chelsea boss, Graham Potter has hailed goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, saying the Spain International has stepped up.

Chelsea came from a goal down to seal a much needed win with a 2-1 victory at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Arrizabalaga was standing in for first choice goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy, who failed a late fitness test before the game.

Kepa produced a number of fine saves after Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace took the lead, giving the Blues a platform to build their comeback.

And Potter hailed the Spain goalkeeper, saying he showed great mental strength to produce a performance of that pedigree at short notice.

“I thought he did really well,” Potter said after the game.

“He made a couple of big saves but I thought his distribution and decision making was also strong.

“Ultimately, we need players to step up and I feel he did that today.”
