EPL: Manchester United told they’ve destroyed chances of signing De Jong

Manchester United have been told they have ‘destroyed’ any chance of signing Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.

Mark Goldbridge believes that the Dutch midfielder would see no reason to join the Red Devils after their disastrous start to the new season.

Erik ten Hag’s side have been in for De Jong all summer, but look likely to miss out on the Barcelona midfielder to Chelsea.

The football pundit and Manchester United fan, Goldbridge said that the 4-0 defeat to Brentford on Saturday has ruined any hope of them signing De Jong.

“I heard this morning there’s a good chance Man United could get De Jong from Barcelona,” he told talkSPORT.

“Manchester United have probably destroyed that deal tonight. Why would he come?”
